Sous Chef - Tempest Charleston

Tempest Charleston is looking for a Sous Chef to join our team.

Location: Charleston, SC

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $50,000 + participation in our Tip the Kitchen initiative.

The Tip the Kitchen initiative is a partnership between the guests and the restaurant, giving the guests the choice to tip the back-of-house employees for a job well done. 5th Street Group ownership partners with our guests and matches the kitchen tips up to $250 each day. The tips are in addition to your salary wages.

The Sous Chef will act as third in command in our kitchen enforcing the chef's guidelines and inspiring excellence. They should have in-depth knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment. We utilize a coal-fire oven that's the center of our roast section with many local seafood options.

Responsibilities include:

· Assist chefs in seasonal menu changes

· Ensure kitchen tasks operate efficiently

· Resolve guest issues related to food

· Record inventory and order for daily and weekly tasks

· Support junior kitchen employees with various tasks

· Staff training

· Assist in schedule planning within given budget

· Lead in excellent sanitation practices

· Organize daily and weekly prep list

· Ability to delegate and follow up on tasks

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Two years proven Sous Chef experience

· Team oriented leadership

· Excellent communication and leadership skills

· Reliable transportation

· Open availability including weekends and holidays

· Knowledge in cost and labor control

· Good understanding of restaurant software and POS systems

· Physically able to work 10+ hour shifts
